Brisbane Transport Optimus Bus

Brisbane Transport, now called Transport for Brisbane, is a public transport division of the Brisbane City Council. It operates public transport services across the city as part of an agreement with TransLink, an agency of the department of Transport and Main Roads. TransLink provide public transport in South East Queensland, including Brisbane, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Cairns, Mackay and Townsville.

The Optimus is a model of bus built and designed by Volgren, an Australian bus body manufacturer. The latest model includes updated technology, more space with a fresh interior, with less wiring and fewer components than previous designs and improved diagnostics.

The Volvo B7RLE is a low-entry single deck bus chassis manufactured by Volvo and launched in Europe and Australia in 2001, then in the UK in 2003. It is a combination of the B7L (front) and the B7R (back). The B7RLE’s engine is mounted in the centre of the rear overhang, unlike the B7L which is located to the nearside. This means the engine doesn’t intrude into the saloon.
